Meredith Lasna Quoted on New Lactation Accommodation Policy for Legal Professionals

Attorney Meredith Lasna, Chair of the New Hampshire Bar Association's Gender Equality Committee (GEC), was recently quoted in New Hampshire Bar News July Edition regarding the New Hampshire Judicial Branch's new lactation accommodation procedures for legal professionals.

The Judicial Branch has launched a centralized process that allows attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to request lactation breaks and private space before court appearances.  The new policy replaces what Meredith described as a previously "piecemeal" approach that varied from court to court.  As GEC Chair, Meredith helped bring attention to the need for a consistent accommodation process, emphasizing that access to adequate time and space for nursing parents is an important gender equity issue within the legal profession.

The new procedures are designed to make court participation more accessible for nursing parents and reflect the Judicial Branch's commitment to supporting legal professionals as they balance family and career responsibilities.  As Meredith noted, the policy helps ensure practitioners can "get back in the courtroom and hopefully stay in the courtroom."  To read the full article, click here.
