Pastori | Krans Hosts First Legal Community Charity Kickball Tournament

On June 18, 2025, the New Hampshire legal community traded suits for sneakers at the inaugural Charity Kickball Tournament hosted by Pastori | Krans at the Derryfield School in Manchester.  The weather cooperated, holding back the rain for the nearly 100 attendees, including seven teams who showed up ready to compete and connect.  Thanks to Orr & Reno (Torts Illustrated), Morrison Mahoney (Cases Loaded), Nixon Peabody (Briefcase Booters), Shaheen & Gordon (S&G Legal Kickers), 603 Legal Aid, Mainstay Technologies (Boot Sequence), and Pastori | Krans (Motion to Strike) for playing, cheering, and donating!  Special thanks to Jill and Dakotah from the NH Lawyers Assistance Program and Rick Labee for donning their whistles to call runs and outs.

The event raised nearly $2,500 for three well-deserving New Hampshire charities -- 603 Legal Aid, Pope Memorial SPCA, and The Friendly Kitchen.  In addition, a generous amount of nonperishable food was collected for the NH Food Bank.

Fueled by pizza, watermelon, chips, and ice cream, teams battled it out in good spirit.  In the end, Orr & Reno could not be stopped, and they brought home first place and the trophy.  Mainstay Technologies had a strong second-place finish.  Every team brought the energy and sportsmanship that made the event unforgettable.

Orr & Reno’s team captain, Cam Lapine said, “It was a great afternoon getting together with other law firms and local businesses for some good competitive fun while also raising money for local charities.  Everyone had fun and it’s always helpful to deepen professional relationships with out-of-the-office events.  As I recently transitioned from a public sector position with the State Senate into my current role with Orr & Reno, I’ve loved seeing the deep connections that New Hampshire’s firms have with our local communities. Winning the tournament with Torts Illustrated was a bonus!”

As much as the day was about competition and fundraising for great charities, it was just as much about connection.  Play isn't just for kids—it lowers stress, boosts endorphins, and nudges us away from screens and toward each other.  Connecting socially with colleagues and (gasp) courtroom adversaries builds community and relationships away from our profession, which encourages a more civil way of practicing law.

The camaraderie and conversations on the field and around the ice cream truck highlighted the uniqueness of the New Hampshire legal community.  Thank you to everyone who participated and donated.  We had fun and brought support for some hometown organizations.  Now the only question left is… who’s hosting next year?
